The two contrasting themes I chose to use for this project was modern feminine aggression and classic female sensuality.
I wanted to capture the natural bend and fold of the fabric and how it mimics the structured elegance of the rose. However the contrast between tight and loose areas where structure is, can be complemented by areas of loosely drape fabric.
Half scale toiles
The first half scale with experimental folding, and fabric manipulation
4. Pleated bust piece, for a visually interesting placement of pleats.
3. Layered fabric pieced together after iron pressing to add shape and fullness. Created a skirt like garment.
5. Experimenting with origami like folding and tucking these folds into each other. Could serve as a garment for a specific body type.
2. Experimenting with created shoulder pads and twisting pleated fabric. Attempting to create a more structured appearance.
